What I now know about the Olympic Games

Antarctica is not part of the Olympic rings. North and south America form one ring.

  • The rings are the continents.

  • The 0lympics games takes place every 4 years.
  • The rings are linked  together to show unity.

  • The colours represent the colours of the different countries flags.

  1. Hi Fareda,

It is so nice to find a post about the Olympics as they are one of my most favourite sporting events. I just love watching the athletes compete and represent their countries. It's quite magical!

In July of last year I actually offered a holiday blogging programme that was based on the Olympics. It was called a 'Winter Learning Journey' and it included 2 weeks of activities related to the Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This summer I am running another version of the blogging programme. It is called a Summer Learning Journey and it is based on the theme of 'Travel and Adventure.' I would love it if you joined in!

To join the Summer Learning Journey programme, you simply hop onto the Summer Learning Journey website (https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome), click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab and choose from one of 60 different activities.

Once you have chosen an activity you post your answer to the activity on your blog site. I will check your blog site regularly and I will write comments on your posts! I also have two teachers who are working with me who will also read your posts and provide comments.

It's a lot of fun! Everyone who blogs with us earns points and the students with the most points earn cool prizes. Everyone who participates also earns a certificate and an online badge.

I really hope that you will consider blogging with us this holiday. We'd love to have you join the Summer Learning Journey team!

    Cheers,
    Rachel
